FAQs
Is this just speed dating?
We have a few different events with a few different themes so find the one that’s right for you.
We offer standard speed dating events where you will rotate through and meet with multiple other guests for a period of 4-8 minutes each depending on the number of attendees.
Most of our speed dating events include a group date which is a soft launch into the night. For many participants, this is their first time speed dating so everyone is a bit nervous. Upon check in we assign you to a group table so after getting a drink and settling in you’ll join a small group of other guests in a more relaxed chat. This prevents guests standing around awkwardly waiting for everyone to arrive.
We also host singles nights which allow guests to roam and chat freely with whomever they like. Our singles nights usually include MatchBox (more on that below) which in short is a quiz that will help you find your most compatible match at the event.
Whichever event you choose, you can always hang around afterward and chat with anyone you may have missed.
What is MatchBox?
MatchBox is a software powered by the technology behind the Marriage Pact that's matched over 750,000 people to date, and uses relationship science to find you your most compatible match at the party! When you arrive at one of our designated MatchBox events, you will take a matching questionnaire. The Matchbox algorithm will identify your optimal match at the party, based on relationship science, AI, and Nobel Prize-winning economics. Since this is a separate questionaire and algorithm from your profile Matchez for the express dates, you may match with the same person you already met during one of your express dates.
If your match isn’t love at first sight, that’s okay! The algorithm is designed for long-term compatibility, so at baseline, you’ll be values-aligned.
At the end of the day, this will be a great group of single people. Enjoy meeting everyone, and remember to be kind.
Who will receive my information?
Throughout the night you will have multiple chances to meet people and interact both romantically and platonically. We provide you with a form to notify us of who you wish to match with and only the people you select will receive your phone number or emails, regardless of whether they chose you back. Please make sure we have a good email on file.
Can I bring a friend?
Absolutely! (Unless its an invite-only event). Many of our participants come with a guest. They will need to purchase their own ticket. We are looking to host “wing (wo)man nights” as well in which your friend can come at a reduced price and it does not matter if they are single or not as they are just there to support you and they will not be paired with anyone during the event.
What are the Matchez Exclusive invite only events?
Just like it sounds, you simply apply on our website and we try to find groups of compatible people to have the most successful nights possible. Just cause you are not invited to a particular event does not mean you will not be invited to a future event.
What if I don’t fit the age bracket listed for the event?
The age brackets are not requirements, they are guidelines to help make sure groups are similarly aligned. If we see a demand for younger men seeking older women, or vice versa, we will definitely put on themed events. All of that being said, all of our events are at least 21 years and older since most take place at bars.
What if my date does not show up?
Let’s be honest, especially in LA there is a chance one or more guests do not show up. We do try to keep our ticket sales balanced between genders, when applicable, and fill in any known vacancies off the guest list to do our part, but there is always a chance one or more of your pre-assigned matches no-shows without notice. You will still have the opportunity to mingle with all participants during the various free time periods of the event and you will still take part in the group dates and since we do the MatchBox most-compatible pairings live at the event you should get those, although if there is an odd number there is a chance someone does not get a match.
